Veg-humans

On an island in the Mediterranean sea, Astarte, an agricultural cooperative of young farmers, is facing the consequences of drought. Despite the World Climate Organization helping populations to move north to the Arctic lands - the only arable lands - the partners of Astarte decide to hire a group of climatologists who promise rain. Yet the solution could be an innovative sunscreen, invented by Gazania, with which to subvert the tendency to Exodus and favor Permanence. Perhaps the remedy
is in the “lymphatic” life of the plants that humans should imitate to become ... veg-humans.
“They were standing in a circle; they could see each other and they felt just created, the first human group that appeared in the desert that did not allow itself to be suffocated by the environment but rather drew strength from it.”
With “Veg-humans”, Clelia Farris, leading author of Italian science fiction, embraces the solarpunk genre through an original vision, made of native innovation, radical sustainability, and collective knowledge.
Born in Cagliari in 1967, Clelia Farris published with Delos Books the novels "Rupes Recta", "Nessun uomo è mio fratello", "La Madonna delle rocce", and "Necrospirante". "La pesatura dell’anima", "La giustizia di Iside", the short story "Creative Surgery" and the anthology "La consistenza delle idee" were published by Future Fiction. The latter was released in the United States in 2020 with the title "Creative Surgery" for Rosarium Publishing, and it has been published in Catalan by Sfabula Editorial.
